Funda Akansel

Funda completed her BDS (2004-2009) and PhD for Periodontology (2010-2014) at Ondokuz Mayis University Faculty of Dentistry. After graduation she had worked as a Periodontist at both private and government dental hospitals in Ankara, Turkey. She has received her GDC registration as a dental hygienist after moving to the UK at the end of 2019.

She has been working as a dental hygienist at a variety of dental practices across London and joined the team of Belsize Dental Practice in March 2022.

Funda has a good understanding of her scope of practice and demonstrates her understanding of the importance of follow-up and recalls in order to achieve and maintain good oral health. She focuses on the link between oral disease diagnosis and its relevance to general health and successfully make her patients aware of this link. She always strives to make the patient journey comfortable, safe and follows best practices to deliver a high standard quality of care to her patients. Her approach towards treating her patients involves assessing the results of treatment, providing aftercare and ongoing preventive advice in order to deliver on health gain.

Outside of dentistry she enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures, skiing, playing computer games&playstation and spending long times with her loved ones.
